Welcome to my Website!
I hope that everyone is healthy and safe at home. I am in the process of updating this website to make it more user friendly for everyone. Please feel to contact me at email@example.com with any questions!!
Your child has been signed up through their school email for Google Classroom. This allows me to assign work to your child in both ELA and Social Studies.
I will try to assign work every other day or so in Social Studies. English Language Arts assignments will be posted on Mondays.
Students can access their work by logging in using one of the links below:
Students should then be able to log in using their school email and password.
Accessing the novels:
Students have been assigned one of two novels: The BFG or Matilda. While most students were given the novels in class, some students were absent. There are several ways to get the book if you don't have it:
1. Go to the local library if it is open and check the book out
2. If you have a library card and a tablet or smartphone, you can "borrow" the book digitally using the "Overdrive" or "Libby" app. All you need to do is download this app, use your library card to login and then search for the book
3. All Massachusetts residents can apply for an e-card from the Boston Public Library. Here's the link:
4. You can access audio using links below.
The BFG: I seem to only be able to post one chapter, but if you look online, this is an entire playlist!
While virtual learning can never replace the effectiveness of face to face discussions, it is what we are left with for at least the next three weeks.
It is my advice that when indicated, assignments be worked on together-as a family OR even with students using Skype or FaceTime to work on them together. Learning happens better when students can talk over what they are learning.
I am considering doing some live-stream discussions if students are interested in them. Please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org if this sounds like something of interest to your student.
It is also important that we try to keep students on a schedule during this time. As such, I saw this sample online and found it to be a good baseline of activities.
