I have just finished a fascinating book by Homer Hickham, Jr. called, Rocket Boys. This memoir (a story about a specific time or event in a person's life) described how Homer (called Sonny in the book), and his friends built rockets back in the 60's when the US had just started its space program. I found some of the reading hard because it talked about math and science ideas I didn't understand. Despite this, I enjoyed learning about the trials and errors they had building the rockets, as well as the funny things that happened to him while doing it! I did not read many nonfiction (or informational) books when I was a kid. I preferred to read novels (fiction). Only recently have I begun to enjoy these types of books. I pushed myself to do this, and by taking a risk, found more books to read! I encourage all of you to take a risk and try to read books you may not have read before!
